The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With an all-out effort, Bath FC's Anorigwo Oladele threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Nasidi Akinrolabu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 4th match minute, Enyimba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toto Otiji to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Mohammadu Adeeko managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bath FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mohammadu Adeeko was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anorigwo Oladele breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Friday Yekini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dahunsi Ughaelu in the 18th minute of the match. Enyimba's Nwokezuike Adaga managed to work through Bath FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Nwokezuike Adaga dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Nwokezuike Adaga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Friday Yekini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Friday Yekini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nwokezuike Adaga in the 28th minute of play. When Bath FC's Nasidi Akinrolabu in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Bath FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Enyimba the free kick. The supporters of Enyimba booed when Bath FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pius Donatus didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The wind increased when Nasidi Akinrolabu made the kick off in the second half. Friday Yekini acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 53rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Bartholomew Oloketuyi. With a little luck, Bath FC's Friday Yekini got control of the ball when Dahunsi Ughaelu tried to sneak it across the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Bath FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nwokezuike Adaga came free, but Friday Yekini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nasidi Akinrolabu in the 69th minute of play forced Enyimba's goalkeeper Anorigwo Oladele to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
