After the first half Stonehouse were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Robai Julius Eromoigbe to make the kick off. Bimbo Nworgu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chiazagomekpele Ige read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Chiazagomekpele Ige took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Magnus Ukaoha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nkemakolam Ezedinma showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Buch Ugwuh in the 58th minute of the match. 60 minutes into the match, Ebira United Fc's goal looked a bit too open when Magnus Ukaoha came free, but Chiazagomekpele Ige reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nkemakolam Ezedinma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Taye Bature in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th minute, Magnus Ukaoha reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Chiazagomekpele Ige. The goal made the score 1-4. When Taye Bature fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ebira United Fc's protests and gave Taye Bature a yellow card for diving instead. Robai Julius Eromoigbe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Chiazagomekpele Ige tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 75th minute Buch Ugwuh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nkemakolam Ezedinma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stonehouse's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Taye Bature was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. Nkemakolam Ezedinma showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Taye Bature in the 95th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Buch Ugwuh in the 96th minute of play forced Stonehouse's goalkeeper Nkemakolam Ezedinma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Stonehouse supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Stonehouse would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
