Alton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roy Higgins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Geoff Oldham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roy Higgins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Kenneth Tabb got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Verne Wiseman charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Verne Wiseman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Verne Wiseman hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Jamal Clarke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Geoff Oldham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stefan Walton hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Geoff Oldham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roy Higgins in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Chris Baldwin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In a very dangerous position, a player in Alton fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 37th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Chiswick a penalty, 38 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Dominik Carter , who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Alton's Geoff Oldham . 0-2. Steven Hughes made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Kenneth Tabb sent off a good shot on target. Ash Lineker 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Steven Hughes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ash Lineker to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Alton's Geoff Oldham got control of the ball when Roy Higgins tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jamal Clarke blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geoff Oldham having to make a save. 55 minutes into the match, Dominik Carter sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Geoff Oldham threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Dominik Carter this time. Steven Hughes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Verne Wiseman in the 58th minute of the match. Alton's Ash Lineker got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 72 minutes, Jamal Clarke managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chiswick's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jamal Clarke was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 78 minutes into the match, Alton's goalkeeper Geoff Oldham had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jamal Clarke . In the 79th minute Roy Higgins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geoff Oldham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geoff Oldham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roy Higgins, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. The supporters of Alton booed when Chiswick was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Harrison didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kenneth Tabb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steven Hughes having to interfere. The Alton supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Chiswick's performance. The match ended with a win for Chiswick.
