Liskeard's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kimpton United the free kick. After a rather tough play, Liskeard's Stewart Sharples got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Leon Robinson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Mike Marriott tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Liskeard fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 8th minute. Penalty! The audience thought a goal was coming when Joe Ross got free with Des Pollock in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute, Patrick Denham hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Kimpton United's goal looked a bit too open when Leon Robinson came free, but Mike Marriott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Joe Ross had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Peter Steed had several of the Liskeard's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 23 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Des Pollock as he didn't even see the shot coming. Kimpton United's Mike Marriott played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon Robinson in the 33rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Patrick Kitchen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liskeard's supporters rose to their feet, but Patrick Kitchen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mike Marriott breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 39th minute, Joe Ross got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Peter Steed struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Des Pollock didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kimpton United. When Stewart Sharples was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 41 minutes had been played. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joe Ross got free with Des Pollock in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 46th minute, Eric Butler had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Patrick Kitchen hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joe Ross to make the kick off. When Joe Ross came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Kimpton United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joe Ross couldn't finish the play. Peter Steed took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Des Pollock . Des Pollock dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Ash Millman struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Mike Marriott didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liskeard. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joe Ross in the 67th minute of play forced Liskeard's goalkeeper Des Pollock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 69 minutes, Peter Steed managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kimpton United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Steed was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leon Robinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leon Robinson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike Marriott having to interfere. After having played for 77 minutes, Leon Robinson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liskeard's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leon Robinson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leon Robinson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Mike Marriott when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 83 minutes, Peter Steed mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kimpton United and the Liskeard players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Liskeard booed when Kimpton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Steed didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 86th minute Alec MacDonnell suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Miles Butterfield during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Kimpton United's Miles Butterfield got a free kick in the 87th minute. If Joe Ross had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Kimpton United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Liskeard had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
