After 10 played minutes North Petherton FC got a freekick which was hit by John Heywood . Dean Routledge hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 12thth minute of the game George McGuinness who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Derry Hill's Frankie Whittaker was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Blair Craven fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored North Petherton FC's protests and gave Blair Craven a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to North Petherton FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Blair Craven hit a great ball. Blair Craven got his second yellow card in the match during the 15th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 16 played minutes North Petherton FC got a freekick which was hit by Blair Craven . An unexpectedly hard shot by John Heywood in the 20th minute of play forced Derry Hill's goalkeeper Frankie Whittaker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frankie Whittaker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Heywood , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alan Garlick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Ballantine having to interfere. If Alan Garlick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tommy Ballantine made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alan Garlick in the 27th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alan Garlick got free with Tommy Ballantine in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind North Petherton FC's goalkeeper Tommy Ballantine, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alan Garlick struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Tommy Ballantine didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Derry Hill. Derry Hill's Alan Garlick got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, North Petherton FC's Dan Styles got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Alan Garlick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Tommy Ballantine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for John Heywood to strike the kick off in the second half. Archie Laycock kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute Alan Garlick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Ballantine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Derry Hill had won after a very even match.
