Spectators: 8024 (Terracing: 6020, Seating: 1845, VIP seats: 159) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Clive Lowndes got the match started through his kick off. Peter Mason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albert Porter, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Derek Brownlee got free with Kris Gillespie in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 12 minutes had been played when some careless play by hpcsongi's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mark Benbow was slow to take the kick. During this time Backwell AFC's players had a chance to rest. 19 minutes into the match, Derek Brownlee notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Backwell AFC's Kris Gillespie. Kris Gillespie was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Carl Clement had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clive Lowndes during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 26th match minute, Backwell AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clive Lowndes to maneuver through the defense. When Carl Clement came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Backwell AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carl Clement couldn't finish the play. In the 30th minute Clive Lowndes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Mason saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Backwell AFC's Carl Clement in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye hpcsongi's goalie prevented a goal. After 34 minutes of play Backwell AFC's Clive Lowndes was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 34th minute, Clive Lowndes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carl Clement received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Peter Mason tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dennis Albright fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Mason having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Neil Edwards to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Neil Edwards cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Kris Gillespie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 63rd minute, Carl Clement got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Backwell AFC booed when hpcsongi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Hoult didn't get a good kick on the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Backwell AFC's Carl Clement sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Peter Mason narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neil Edwards in the 74th minute of play forced Backwell AFC's goalkeeper Kris Gillespie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kris Gillespie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Hoult in the 76th minute of play. Kris Gillespie came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by hpcsongi's Derek Brownlee. But to his dismay, Derek Brownlee quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Neil Edwards blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kris Gillespie having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Derek Brownlee managed to get in a good position for a shot. hpcsongi's supporters rose to their feet, but Derek Brownlee was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kris Gillespie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Peter Mason made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carl Clement in the 86th minute. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. hpcsongi were victorious despite being under pressure from Backwell AFC for much of the match.
