Bronagh Robertson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jermaine Crouch having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Oxford United's goalkeeper Jermaine Crouch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bronagh Robertson . In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Accrington's goalkeeper Russ Gettins , but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jermaine Crouch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darren Warrender in the 22nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sol Jobling in the 27th minute of play forced Accrington's goalkeeper Russ Gettins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dylon Chilton in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Russ Gettins saved Accrington from getting behind. Russ Gettins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sol Jobling , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oxford United's Jermaine Crouch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darren Warrender in the 34th minute of play. Bronagh Robertson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jermaine Crouch was out of position in the 41 minute of play, and Darren Warrender capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Darren Warrender really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Brad Patrick's late challenge caught a Accrington's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brad Patrick helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Oxford United's Brad Patrick got a free kick in the 45th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Oxford United's goalkeeper Jermaine Crouch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bronagh Robertson . The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Jermaine Crouch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
