An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremy Hancock in the 20th minute of play forced Little Comberton's goalkeeper Victor Butt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21stth minute of the game Jeremy Hancock who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Little Comberton's Victor Butt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Les George during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Little Comberton getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Les George hit a great ball. Victor Butt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremy Hancock in the 23rd minute of play. Jeremy Hancock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Richie Yeo 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Victor Butt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jimmy Wiley made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richie Yeo got free with Victor Butt in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 54 minutes of play, Little Comberton's Des Moxon made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dennis Pitts was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dennis Pitts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Des Moxon , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Euston AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
