A collision led to Asot getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Robbie Swain hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Asot's zone, Piers Wiley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leigh Lewis came out of the goal and Piers Wiley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Asot's Leigh Lewis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Asot from getting a goal against them. Robbie Swain hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dennis Gower in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marty Hughes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 22nd minute Piers Wiley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leigh Lewis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giles McGovern hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Marty Hughes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Gower , who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the match, Purfleet's goal looked a bit too open when Danny Cotterill came free, but Marty Hughes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Danny Cotterill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Marty Hughes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 53rd minute, Purfleet's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Robbie Swain fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 55 minutes, Piers Wiley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Purfleet and the Asot players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 55 played minutes Purfleet got a freekick which was hit by Piers Wiley . Dennis Gower was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 62nd minute. Asot's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Piers Wiley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Leigh Lewis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aidan Patten scored 3-1 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leigh Lewis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Leigh Lewis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dylon Archer, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Marty Hughes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dennis Gower , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Piers Wiley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Purfleet's supporters rose to their feet, but Piers Wiley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leigh Lewis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teddy Croyden in the 97th minute of play forced Asot's goalkeeper Leigh Lewis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
