Spectators: 6851 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1851, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. North Shields's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Phil Cousins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Phil Cousins hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Al Marshall scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lee Swallow , who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 18 minutes, Pat Smith managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. North Shields's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pat Smith was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Francis Swain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Josh Robinson kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Cody Reid Clanny got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cody Reid Clanny received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Russell Pamplin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 33 minutes into the match, North Shields's Pat Smith sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lee Swallow narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dover's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Pat Smith 34 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. In the 39th minute Phil Cousins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Russell Pamplin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phil Cousins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Russell Pamplin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phil Cousins , who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Dover's Cody Reid Clanny got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Russell Pamplin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cody Reid Clanny in the 46th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Francis Swain was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. North Shields's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dover the free kick. After 47 played minutes North Shields got a freekick which was hit by Francis Swain .

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Phil Cousins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Dover's goal looked a bit too open when Al Marshall came free, but Lee Swallow reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Al Marshall managed to get in a good position for a shot. North Shields's supporters rose to their feet, but Al Marshall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lee Swallow breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pat Smith in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lee Swallow prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Cody Reid Clanny had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cody Reid Clanny in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Russell Pamplin , who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Russell Pamplin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phil Cousins , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd minute, Phil Cousins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Russell Pamplin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phil Cousins , who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. North Shields's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
