Andrew Colt started the match with the kick off. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, John Cunnah put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Rick Short . Rick Short showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willie Botham , who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Sandown's Andrew Colt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thom Key narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 29 played minutes, Neasden United's Bob Smith shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rick Short came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Neasden United reached it. If Willie Botham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute John Cunnah shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rick Short saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Andrew Colt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 34th minute, Kenny Brent left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sandown fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Kenny Brent had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rick Short took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Cunnah, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Neasden United's John Cunnah sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rick Short narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kenny Brent came free with the goalkeeper in the 48th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Thom Key could save by the left post. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Willie Botham made the kick off in the second half. 60 minutes into the game, Sandown's Andrew Colt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thom Key made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Kenny Brent sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 68th match minute, Neasden United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ozzy Sansom to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Kenny Brent put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Thom Key . In the 78th minute Willie Botham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rick Short saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willie Botham in the 80th minute of play forced Sandown's goalkeeper Rick Short to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd match minute, Neasden United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bob Smith to maneuver through the defense. Kenny Brent received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Thom Key tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kenny Brent struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Thom Key didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sandown.
