Spectators: 6851 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1851, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Keanu Gardner kicked off to start the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luke Nottingham got free with Norman Bolton in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Norman Bolton came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by Swadlincote AFC's Luke Nottingham . But to his dismay, Luke Nottingham quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 18 minutes into the game, one of Swadlincote AFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Brian Thornton went to the wrong direction when Neil Archer was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Keanu Gardner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Keanu Gardner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Swadlincote AFC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Eddy Purkiss hit a great ball. When Keanu Gardner came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Newton Abbot AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Keanu Gardner couldn't finish the play. If Camron Flanagan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rio Washington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Luke Nottingham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Swadlincote AFC's Rio Washington got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norman Bolton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rio Washington , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rio Washington to make the kick off. If Keanu Gardner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luke Nottingham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Norman Bolton having to interfere. Norman Bolton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rio Washington , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes into the match, Newton Abbot AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Luke Nottingham came free, but Norman Bolton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Camron Flanagan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Brian Thornton firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Swadlincote AFC's Rio Washington in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Newton Abbot AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Camron Flanagan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Swadlincote AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luke Nottingham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
