Rio Washington 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paddy Daly read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Rio Washington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paddy Daly having to interfere. Blair Lundy's late challenge caught a Swadlincote AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blair Lundy helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th minute, Geoff York hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paddy Daly made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Luke Nottingham sent off a good shot on target. Brian Thornton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Will Beecham in the 21st minute of the match. Brian Thornton came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ossett City's Vernon Crawshaw. But to his dismay, Vernon Crawshaw quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 27 minutes into the game, Rio Washington lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Paddy Daly. In the 33rd minute, Will Beecham got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Swadlincote AFC were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Ossett City's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Adam Taylor took the corner. Paddy Daly made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rio Washington in the 41st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Swadlincote AFC's Adam Taylor got a free kick in the 44th minute.

51 minutes into the game, one of Swadlincote AFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 53rd minute there was a penalty for Ossett City. Willie Lincoln stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Brian Thornton . 1-2. Vernon Crawshaw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brian Thornton having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luke Nottingham in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paddy Daly saved Ossett City from getting behind. In the 64th match minute, Swadlincote AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexander Nethercot to maneuver through the defense. If Will Beecham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 69 minutes into the match, Ossett City's goal looked a bit too open when Luke Nottingham came free, but Paddy Daly reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ossett City's Tommy Close got a free kick in the 72nd minute. When Rio Washington , who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 75 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Paddy Daly was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Swadlincote AFC's Luke Nottingham got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luke Nottingham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Swadlincote AFC booed when Ossett City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willie Lincoln didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ossett City's goalkeeper Paddy Daly, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Rio Washington had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Will Beecham in the 93rd minute of play forced Swadlincote AFC's goalkeeper Brian Thornton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Swadlincote AFC's Garth Wootton got a free kick in the 93rd minute. With an all-out effort, Ossett City's Brian Thornton threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Will Beecham, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Swadlincote AFC getting a freekick after 99 minutes play. Eddy Purkiss hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ossett City eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
