Wibtoft City's Willie Malley proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Wibtoft City from getting a goal against them. 14 minutes into the game, Eddie Medlin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wibtoft City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Blackpool the free kick. Eddie Medlin hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute of the match, Kurt Best got a very nice opportunity to score, but Willie Malley was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Gary Haines didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Barney Burnett went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score.

The wind increased when John Galway made the kick off in the second half. Bill Saunders received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Gary Haines tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kurt Best fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willie Malley having to interfere. After having played for 64 minutes, Ian Holyfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wibtoft City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ian Holyfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 66th minute by Ian Holyfield got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Kurt Best fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willie Malley having to interfere. When Ian Holyfield came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Wibtoft City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ian Holyfield couldn't finish the play. Wibtoft City's Bill Saunders got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Ian Holyfield came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Wibtoft City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ian Holyfield couldn't finish the play. If Bill Saunders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
