Gary Goldthorpe struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Willie Malley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hendon AFC. Ian Holyfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hayden Hatcher having to interfere. A collision led to Hendon AFC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Lennie Beaumont hit a great ball. Ian Holyfield in the 32ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hayden Hatcher, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Bill Saunders received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Hayden Hatcher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Bill Saunders got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Bill Saunders managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wibtoft City's supporters rose to their feet, but Bill Saunders was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hayden Hatcher breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bill Saunders made a kick off. When Ian Holyfield came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Wibtoft City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ian Holyfield couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Hendon AFC's Gary Goldthorpe got a free kick in the 60th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bill Saunders in the 63rd minute of play forced Hendon AFC's goalkeeper Hayden Hatcher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 66 minutes, Ian Holyfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wibtoft City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ian Holyfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Hendon AFC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Basil Pettifer hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Gary Goldthorpe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Willie Malley was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. If Rupert Morris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hayden Hatcher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bill Saunders , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wibtoft City were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
