In the 21st minute, John Bateman reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joey Savage. The goal made the score 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Avebury AFC's zone, Francis Coton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Crispin Gordon came out of the goal and Francis Coton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Francis Coton to make the kick off. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joey Savage prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Francis Coton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. With a little luck, Avebury AFC's Crispin Gordon got control of the ball when Rodney Irvine tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Wrea Green booed when Avebury AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elisha Fenwick didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Avebury AFC were the better team. Avebury AFC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
