When John Bateman came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Avebury AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that John Bateman couldn't finish the play. John Bateman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Carlick having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when John Bateman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Swaffham United's Rick Wild made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Crispin Gordon was left in no man's land by his defense there! Avebury AFC's Crispin Gordon couldn't get a good grip on the ball when Rick Wild shot the distance nicking the right pole and went into goal in the 55th minute, 1-2. Paddy Wadham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rick Wild in the 62ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Rick Wild could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Crispin Gordon made a huge save. The Avebury AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Swaffham United's performance. The match ended with a win for Swaffham United.
