The audience thought a goal was coming when Tod Godsall got free with Crispin Gordon in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elisha Fenwick during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Elisha Fenwick kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Avebury AFC's Jez North got a free kick in the 20th minute. After having played for 24 minutes, Al Henry managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kelvedon AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Al Henry was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Kenny Edgson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kenny Edgson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd minute, Silvester Beadle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jay Price was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 44 minutes into the match, Avebury AFC's goalkeeper Crispin Gordon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tod Godsall . Kenny Edgson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Avebury AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kenny Edgson was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute, Kenny Edgson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kenny Edgson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Kenny Edgson came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Kelvedon AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kenny Edgson couldn't finish the play. Crispin Gordon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenny Edgson , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Silvester Beadle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Jay Price tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Tod Godsall put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Crispin Gordon. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronnie Maloney during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Kelvedon AFC getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Ronnie Maloney hit a great ball. In the 88th minute, Dave Rose hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 94 played minutes Kelvedon AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ronnie Maloney .
