The supporters of Bristol Kingswood booed when Harold Hill AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phillip Townson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Harold Hill AFC's Robert Rockett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Frost in the 8th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerry Roberts in the 12th minute of play forced Bristol Kingswood's goalkeeper Basil Skipton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Harold Hill AFC's Neal Coates broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 21st minute, Peter Brazier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bristol Kingswood's Basil Skipton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerry Roberts in the 22nd minute of play. Basil Skipton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerry Roberts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tommy Ridgeway struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Robert Rockett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bristol Kingswood. Lewis Butterfield kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Basil Skipton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Glyn Littlechild, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Peter Brazier during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Bristol Kingswood's Peter Brazier got a free kick in the 40th minute. The audience was convinced that Glyn Littlechild's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Basil Skipton was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Glyn Littlechild stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Harold Hill AFC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Lee Morgan hit a great ball. In the 54th minute Felix Frost shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robert Rockett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th match minute, Bristol Kingswood was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reuben McCartney to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerry Roberts got free with Basil Skipton in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Basil Skipton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Glyn Littlechild, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 66 minutes into the match, Harold Hill AFC's Gerry Roberts sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Basil Skipton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Bristol Kingswood's goalkeeper Basil Skipton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Gerry Roberts managed to get in a good position for a shot. Harold Hill AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerry Roberts was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Basil Skipton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Glyn Littlechild in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Basil Skipton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Glyn Littlechild received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Basil Skipton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gerry Roberts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Basil Skipton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glyn Littlechild in the 86th minute of the match. After 86 played minutes Bristol Kingswood got a freekick which was hit by Lewis Butterfield. 87 minutes into the game, Gerry Roberts recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Basil Skipton. Gerry Roberts showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. When Glyn Littlechild came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Harold Hill AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Glyn Littlechild couldn't finish the play. Glyn Littlechild fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basil Skipton having to interfere.
