When Bryan Housham fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Whitton AFC's protests and gave Bryan Housham a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th minute, Bryan Housham hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Romeo Metcalf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stew Jenkinson having to interfere. Ivor Browning took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Scott Lock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stew Jenkinson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keith Hazledine in the 27th minute of the match. Warminster's Romeo Metcalf got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 37 minutes into the match, Keith Hazledine had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stew Jenkinson. Whitton AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Keith Hazledine was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Malcolm Neville to make the kick off.
