Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jon Venables got the match started through his kick off. The referee gave Leek FC a penalty, 4 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Derek Bayne, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Whitton AFC's Stew Jenkinson. 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Whitton AFC's zone, Vince Sutcliffe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stew Jenkinson came out of the goal and Vince Sutcliffe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ray Denham came free with the goalkeeper in the 12th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Stew Jenkinson could save by the left post. Malcolm Neville fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keith Downham having to interfere. Scott Lock struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Keith Downham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whitton AFC. Bryan Housham charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bryan Housham the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Leek FC booed when Whitton AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bryan Housham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Keith Downham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Malcolm Neville, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. If Jon Venables had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rory Moon tried in the 30th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Stew Jenkinson a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 2-1. Whitton AFC's Stew Jenkinson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Whitton AFC from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 38 minutes, Stew Jenkinson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Jon Venables fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stew Jenkinson having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Jon Venables got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sean Ferdinand struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Stew Jenkinson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leek FC. Stew Jenkinson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jon Venables in the 48th minute of the match.

Shane Gallacher's late challenge caught a Whitton AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Shane Gallacher helped the player get up and apologised. In the 63rd minute, Derek Bayne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 64 played minutes, Whitton AFC's Baron Frazer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Keith Downham came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Whitton AFC reached it. In the 67th minute, Cody Westlake hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 68th minute Ray Denham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stew Jenkinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ray Denham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stew Jenkinson having to interfere. Whitton AFC's Stew Jenkinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ray Denham in the 75th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jon Venables in the 77th minute of play forced Whitton AFC's goalkeeper Stew Jenkinson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jon Venables had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the game, Leek FC's Jon Venables nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stew Jenkinson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Whitton AFC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Leek FC.
