With a couple of smart ball manuevers Guy Vassell in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Keith Downham saved Leek FC from getting behind. 14 minutes into the match, Leek FC's goal looked a bit too open when Guy Vassell came free, but Keith Downham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 15th minute of the game. One of London Colney FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Leek FC:s goal. After a defensive mix-up in Leek FC's zone, Marlon Wells stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Keith Downham came out of the goal and Marlon Wells tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stan Wellings charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stan Wellings the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 24th match minute, London Colney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stan Wellings to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Ray Denham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leek FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ray Denham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kieran Blair breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jon Venables might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kieran Blair . Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jon Venables ran back to his position shaking his head. Kirk Major hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 34th minute Jon Venables shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kieran Blair saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jon Venables fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kieran Blair having to interfere. After 41 minutes of play London Colney FC's Kirk Major was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Kirk Major hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Kieran Blair showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jon Venables in the 44th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jon Venables stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jon Venables in the 55th minute of play forced London Colney FC's goalkeeper Kieran Blair to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute, Jon Venables left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leek FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. If Ray Denham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kieran Blair made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jon Venables in the 72nd minute of play. Jon Venables struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Kieran Blair didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leek FC. 75 minutes into the game, Tosh Wiltshire was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. London Colney FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Leek FC the free kick. Kieran Blair stood somewhat misplaced when Jon Venables came free in front of goal and shot 0-3 to the left of him in the 81 minute. Ray Denham's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kieran Blair read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ray Denham got free with Kieran Blair in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. London Colney FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 92nd minute, when Jon Venables scored to the left of an out of position Kieran Blair , making the score, 0-4. The London Colney FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Leek FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
