Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Malcolm Neville got the match started through his kick off. After 5 played minutes Stratton FC got a freekick which was hit by Denis Bew. Ray Spacey in the 12thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Stew Jenkinson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 14th minute, Scott Lock got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Stew Jenkinson made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Ray Spacey sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Whitton AFC booed when Stratton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denny Blake didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ray Spacey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stew Jenkinson having to interfere. In the 29th match minute, Stratton FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Don Kay to maneuver through the defense. The referee felt a red card was in order, 34 minutes into the game, when Quentin Machin put in a rough tackle. 33 minutes into the game, one of Stratton FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Stratton FC's Julian Hampton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malcolm Neville in the 39th minute of play. If Ray Spacey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 45 minutes into the game, Mark Oldham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stratton FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whitton AFC the free kick.

A nice corner shot did that Nathan Windsor got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Stew Jenkinson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 55th minute, Ray Spacey left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stratton FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Stew Jenkinson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Oldham in the 60th minute of play. Whitton AFC's Scott Lock got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Billy Avery received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Stew Jenkinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Seamus Coote's late challenge caught a Whitton AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Seamus Coote helped the player get up and apologised. In the 69th minute, Seamus Coote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute, Whitton AFC's Malcolm Neville dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. If Ray Spacey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stew Jenkinson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joe Cole in the 79th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Whitton AFC's zone, Ray Spacey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stew Jenkinson came out of the goal and Ray Spacey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Whitton AFC's goalkeeper Stew Jenkinson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Stew Jenkinson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Seamus Coote in the 88th minute of play. If Seamus Coote had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute, Ray Spacey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Scott Lock recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Stratton FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
