When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Graeme Healy put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Carlton Elliott. Graeme Healy's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlton Elliott read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After having played for 32 minutes, Harry Pugh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dalton In Furness's supporters crossed their fingers, but Harry Pugh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Dalton In Furness booed when Wolverhampton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darryl Lobb didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Graeme Healy in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlton Elliott prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tommy Delamore kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jack Fairbank made a kick off. David Basham kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Wolverhampton's goal looked a bit too open when Harry Pugh came free, but Carlton Elliott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chants of Dalton In Furness echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Wolverhampton had held the ball for most of the match.
