Thanks to some nice moves Gordon Day could shoot a difficult shot in the 15th minute, which Matt Westlake however easily saved by the left post. Donny Strickland hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Jason Benbow struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Matt Westlake didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Notting Hill Gate City. Harvey Blake fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matt Westlake having to interfere. Matt Westlake showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jason Benbow in the 27th minute of the match. After having played for 29 minutes, Gordon Day managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Notting Hill Gate City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gordon Day was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Bob Everett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, David Flanagan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 50th minute Jason Benbow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matt Westlake saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

In the 75th minute, David Flanagan made a precise shot to the right of Frank Cooke. Notting Hill Gate City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1.
