With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dave Tomelty prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to North Force FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. When Garth Carter came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Catford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garth Carter couldn't finish the play. Garth Carter struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Dave Tomelty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catford. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfred Stone to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Stone in the 55th minute of play forced North Force FC's goalkeeper Dave Tomelty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Dave Tomelty managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Catford's Garth Carter fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Garth Carter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in North Force FC's zone, Alfred Stone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dave Tomelty came out of the goal and Alfred Stone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 67th match minute, North Force FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eamonn Healy to maneuver through the defense. Catford's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Stephen Holt in the 70th minute. Catford's Stephen Holt was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dave Tomelty in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With an all-out effort, Catford's Dave Tomelty threw himself towards the right post 72 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Verne Bell , which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Garth Carter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Garth Carter 's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dave Tomelty firmly grabbed it by the left post. The North Force FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Catford's performance. The match ended with a win for Catford.
