Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Will Pitts came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Catford's Verne Bell . But to his dismay, Verne Bell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfred Stone in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Will Pitts prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that George Hedges's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stan Smythe was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Garth Carter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Will Pitts having to interfere. Will Pitts stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfred Stone's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. After some careless play in the Catford defense, George Hedges kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stan Smythe. The Catford fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stan Smythe should have stopped the shot. An unexpected shot in the 23rd minute by Tristan Hird got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After having played for 25 minutes, Garth Carter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Garth Carter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Garth Carter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 31st minute Garth Carter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Will Pitts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jordan Salt hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After a good free kick, Alfred Stone got an opportunity to smash the ball into the goal, but unfortunately, the ball went just outside the goal, which resulted in a goal kick for 1967 Kingswood. In the 38thth minute of the game Garth Carter who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 1967 Kingswood's Will Pitts was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 41 minutes, Alfred Stone made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. 1967 Kingswood's Will Pitts tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Catford's Alfred Stone got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Garth Carter in the 47th minute of play forced 1967 Kingswood's goalkeeper Will Pitts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Catford were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers George Hedges in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stan Smythe saved Catford from getting behind. 61 minutes into the game, Brett Galloway was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Catford's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave 1967 Kingswood the free kick. 65 minutes into the match, 1967 Kingswood's goal looked a bit too open when Alfred Stone came free, but Will Pitts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Garth Lane hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. When Catford's Alfred Stone in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Will Pitts was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alfred Stone showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 86 minute of play. CJ Bush recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Verne Bell 's late challenge caught a 1967 Kingswood's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Verne Bell helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of 1967 Kingswood booed when Catford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Verne Bell didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Catford supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Catford would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
