The audience thought a goal was coming when Garth Carter got free with Andrew Postolan in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bob Theobald blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stan Smythe having to make a save. Stan Smythe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 44 minutes into the game, Redditch's Bob Theobald nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stan Smythe made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfred Stone to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes Redditch's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stephen Holt who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Matt Waddington managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. If Garth Carter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Catford's Stan Smythe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Catford from getting a goal against them. Andrew Postolan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Garth Carter , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
