Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Craig Rhodes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ben Boyd having to interfere. Craig Rhodes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, Chip Jones hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Craig Rhodes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Rio Rowett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Annscroft City's supporters rose to their feet, but Rio Rowett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ryan Kennedy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Tommy Goldthorpe came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Annscroft City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tommy Goldthorpe couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Annscroft City's Rio Rowett got a free kick in the 26th minute. Ben Boyd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liam Bannister, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Liam Bannister fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ben Boyd having to interfere. With a little luck, Annscroft City's Ben Boyd got control of the ball when Craig Rhodes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ben Boyd made an important save on a dangerous shot by Craig Rhodes in the 42nd minute. Ben Boyd made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Craig Rhodes sent off a good shot on target. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Liam Bannister stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kimpton AFC's Ralf Holden got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Annscroft City's zone, Craig Rhodes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ben Boyd came out of the goal and Craig Rhodes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Kimpton AFC's Liam Bannister got a free kick in the 67th minute. Liam Bannister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Kimpton AFC booed when Annscroft City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chip Jones didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kimpton AFC's Liam Bannister got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, Liam Bannister got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Craig Rhodes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kimpton AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Craig Rhodes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ben Boyd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tommy Goldthorpe hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Ben Boyd stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Craig Rhodes's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. Ben Boyd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Craig Rhodes, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
