Bramhall FC's Gus McGuinness started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gus McGuinness's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Doug Ashworth read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. In the 8th match minute, Bramhall FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Dewhirst to maneuver through the defense. Martin Dewhirst hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tim Pinder in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Doug Ashworth saved Lincoln United from getting behind. Tim Pinder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Doug Ashworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gus McGuinness sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Benji Beerman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tim Pinder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doug Ashworth having to interfere. Doug Ashworth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tim Pinder , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Doug Ashworth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gus McGuinness in the 31st minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Tim Pinder left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bramhall FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Gus McGuinness sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Lincoln United booed when Bramhall FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tim Pinder didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Benji Beerman made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Charlie Dobbs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lincoln United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bramhall FC the free kick. A collision led to Lincoln United getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Charlie Dobbs hit a great ball. Gus McGuinness received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Doug Ashworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 56 played minutes Lincoln United got a freekick which was hit by Billie Brontë. Tim Pinder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 60 minutes into the match, Lincoln United's goal looked a bit too open when Gus McGuinness came free, but Doug Ashworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, Gus McGuinness dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Doug Ashworth, 1-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damian Lundy during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Lincoln United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bramhall FC:s goal. Lincoln United:s Doug Ashworth showed great skill when he stopped Keith Stockley :s penalty. 77 minutes into the game, Bramhall FC's Keith Stockley nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Doug Ashworth made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Lincoln United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Gus McGuinness scored to the left of an out of position Doug Ashworth, making the score, 1-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benji Beerman in the 85th minute of play forced Bramhall FC's goalkeeper Darren Church to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Lincoln United's Doug Ashworth got control of the ball when Gus McGuinness tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Billie Brontë during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Billie Brontë kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. In the 93rd match minute, Bramhall FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Dewhirst to maneuver through the defense. Sol Tonkin was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The Lincoln United supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Bramhall FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Bramhall FC.
