With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gus McGuinness in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Peter Banks saved BELFAST FC from getting behind. After a rather tough play, BELFAST FC's Dennis Lawton got a free kick in the 16th minute. If Tim Pinder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind BELFAST FC's goalkeeper Peter Banks, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, BELFAST FC's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Dewhirst came free, but Peter Banks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 73 minutes, Rudi Birken managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BELFAST FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rudi Birken was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 74th minute Gus McGuinness shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Banks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
