Rangers's Jasper Trotter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Colin Evans in the 3rd minute of play. In the 9th minute of the match, Johnathan Burley tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Owen Stead saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Lenny Gregg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The attack was good, but when Colin Evans in the 15th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Lenny Greggs short, quick shot in the 23rdth minute got Owen Stead to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Johnathan Burley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Owen Stead tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Hucknall FC booed when Rangers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Colin Kershaw didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute Colin Evans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jasper Trotter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johnathan Burley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mitch Sharp struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Owen Stead didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rangers. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Johnathan Burley in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Owen Stead saved Hucknall FC from getting behind. 42 minutes into the match, Rangers's Lenny Gregg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Owen Stead narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Marty Boxall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Johnathan Burley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Owen Stead took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lenny Gregg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Derek Digby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Mitch Sharp fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rangers's protests and gave Mitch Sharp a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th match minute, Rangers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mitch Sharp to maneuver through the defense. If Colin Evans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Derek Digby recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Derek Digby blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jasper Trotter having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Rangers's zone, Colin Evans stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jasper Trotter came out of the goal and Colin Evans tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patrick Goldthorpe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Jasper Trotter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lenny Gregg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Owen Stead having to interfere. Hucknall FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Derek Digby was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jasper Trotter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Colin Evans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Rangers supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Hucknall FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Hucknall FC.
