Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Adam Alsford started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 5 minutes into the match, Northwich's goalkeeper Andre Saxton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Derek Digby. In the 5th match minute, Northwich was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jez Cunningham to maneuver through the defense. Derek Digby blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andre Saxton having to make a save. Owen Stead made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Philip Ward in the 15th minute of play. Colin Evans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Saxton having to interfere. Derek Digby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Andre Saxton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Spike Lightfoot made a precise shot to the right of Owen Stead. Hucknall FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Colin Evans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Colin Evans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andre Saxton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Colin Evans's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Northwich's zone, Derek Digby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andre Saxton came out of the goal and Derek Digby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andre Saxton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Colin Evans in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Colin Evans made a kick off. Northwich's Andre Saxton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Colin Evans in the 52nd minute of play. If Colin Evans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hucknall FC's Derek Digby got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Philip Ward recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Andre Saxton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Derek Digby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Philip Ward sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Adam Alsford came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Northwich fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adam Alsford couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Colin Evans in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andre Saxton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Andre Saxton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Derek Digby in the 70th minute of the match. Owen Stead made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Alsford in the 73rd minute of play. In the 81st minute, Adam Alsford got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rd minute Derek Digby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andre Saxton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 87 played minutes Northwich got a freekick which was hit by Rex Clapham. Marty Boxall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Northwich walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
