Ken Lambert kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. 8 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mhurphys Fury F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rex Clapham was slow to take the kick. During this time Northwich's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Mhurphys Fury F.C.'s goalie and right to Damon Crowther. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Mhurphys Fury F.C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Louis Carroll might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Andre Saxton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Louis Carroll ran back to his position shaking his head. 15 minutes into the match, Northwich's goal looked a bit too open when Louis Carroll came free, but Andre Saxton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andre Saxton acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 17th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Freddie Pinder. Mhurphys Fury F.C.'s Reg Hinchcliffe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Alsford in the 19th minute of play. Philip Ward received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Reg Hinchcliffe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Northwich's Andre Saxton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louis Carroll in the 38th minute of play. Philip Ward sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adam Alsford stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ian Markham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Saxton having to interfere. Andre Saxton came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Mhurphys Fury F.C.'s Ian Markham. But to his dismay, Ian Markham quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Philip Ward succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 59th playminute. Adam Alsford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Reg Hinchcliffe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andre Saxton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Louis Carroll, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th match minute, Northwich was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adam Alsford to maneuver through the defense. Philip Ward received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Reg Hinchcliffe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Northwich booed when Mhurphys Fury F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johnny Endean didn't get a good kick on the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Mhurphys Fury F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Adam Alsford came free, but Reg Hinchcliffe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But to his dismay, Ken Lambert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Andre Saxton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Louis Carroll in the 97th minute of the match. The Mhurphys Fury F.C. support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
