The supporters of Thorne FC booed when Horndean was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cliff McAleese didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 21 minutes, Darren Boulton successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 24 minutes into the game, Phil Lawson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Thorne FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Liam Bancroft was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Darren Boulton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Darren Boulton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Murray, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 56 minutes, Brian Cole mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Thorne FC and the Horndean players grew even worse after the yellow card. Horndean's Darren Boulton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liam Bancroft in the 84th minute of play. When Liam Bancroft came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Thorne FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Liam Bancroft couldn't finish the play. In the 92ndth minute of the game Sam Murray who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Horndean's Darren Boulton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Liam Bancroft's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Darren Boulton was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Liam Bancroft in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Darren Boulton prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
