Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Andy Baird got the match started through his kick off. Lewisham's Marc Donaldson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joey Adams in the 9th minute of play. Marc Donaldson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Neville, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Andy Baird made a precise shot to the right of Marc Donaldson. Lewisham's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. The supporters of Newcastle-under-Lyme booed when Lewisham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Grant Pointon didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 41 minutes of play, Newcastle-under-Lyme's Joey Adams made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marc Donaldson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Steve Mayall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Marc Donaldson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Andy Baird ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marc Donaldson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geoff Rogers to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Newcastle-under-Lyme's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Seaward came free, but Andrew Rea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joey Adams in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marc Donaldson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 56th match minute, Lewisham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ozzy Wooding to maneuver through the defense. Michael Harrison kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Joey Adams scored 0-6 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marc Donaldson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Andy Baird did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-7 to the left of a surprised Marc Donaldson 64 minutes into the match. Lewisham's Marc Donaldson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Lewisham from getting a goal against them. In the 68th minute Andy Baird shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marc Donaldson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marc Donaldson came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Newcastle-under-Lyme's Joey Adams. But to his dismay, Joey Adams quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. Newcastle-under-Lyme's Joey Adams got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marc Donaldson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joey Adams went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. 78 minutes into the match, Sam Neville dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Marc Donaldson, 0-10. Newcastle-under-Lyme made a substitution. Tod Whitford replaced Sam Neville. Lewisham's Marc Donaldson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Lewisham from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Newcastle-under-Lyme's Tod Alderdice slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marc Donaldson. That made the score 0-11 after 86 minutes of play. Andrew Rea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Owen Whittaker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andy Baird in the 93rd minute of play forced Lewisham's goalkeeper Marc Donaldson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Newcastle-under-Lyme left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Lewisham.
