Spectators: 9304 (Terracing: 6980, Seating: 2139, VIP seats: 185) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Billy Feeney got the match started through his kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when James Humphreys got free with Derek Carragher in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 4th minute, Triquetra AFC's Dennis Salmon dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Derek Carragher made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dennis Salmon in the 11th minute. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Dennis Salmon took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Derek Carragher to make any attempt to save it. Triquetra AFC's Sammy Nethercot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ray Buckler in the 17th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when James Humphreys got free with Derek Carragher in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Triquetra AFC booed when Belfast Rebels FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ray Buckler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Derek Carragher made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Dennis Salmon sent off a good shot on target. When Billy Feeney fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Belfast Rebels FC's protests and gave Billy Feeney a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Belfast Rebels FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Billy Feeney hit a great ball. In the 31st match minute, Belfast Rebels FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ray Buckler to maneuver through the defense. Dennis Salmon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Derek Carragher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ray Buckler kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After 38 minutes of play, Triquetra AFC's James Humphreys made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Derek Carragher was left in no man's land by his defense there! Derek Carragher stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dennis Salmon's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. Damion Bullard hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Dennis Salmon kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dennis Salmon made a kick off. A collision led to Triquetra AFC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Willie Talbot hit a great ball. Sammy Nethercot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Derek Wood, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Willie Talbot took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Derek Carragher. Derek Carragher dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. In the 64th minute, Dennis Salmon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Derek Carragher was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. With a little luck, Triquetra AFC's Sammy Nethercot got control of the ball when Derek Wood tried to sneak it across the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, Jimmy Spencer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Triquetra AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Belfast Rebels FC the free kick. Jimmy Spencer hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Joe Thomas struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Sammy Nethercot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belfast Rebels FC. Derek Carragher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from James Humphreys, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 84 played minutes Belfast Rebels FC got a freekick which was hit by Ray Bean. After 85 played minutes, Triquetra AFC's Reggie Wall shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Derek Carragher came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Triquetra AFC reached it. Derek Carragher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Salmon, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Derek Carragher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Salmon in the 91st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dennis Salmon in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Derek Carragher prevented the ball from getting in the gole. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Triquetra AFC fully deserved thier win.
