To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anselmo Spione's late challenge caught a Gomersal AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anselmo Spione helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Garstang AFC's Anselmo Spione got a free kick in the 7th minute. The long shot by Ty Dunlop in the 7th minute really tested Rick Kessler's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anderson Pernambucano in the 12th minute of play forced Garstang AFC's goalkeeper Rick Kessler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st match minute, Gomersal AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Archie Vine to maneuver through the defense. Rick Kessler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anderson Pernambucano in the 23rd minute of play.
