The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Yapton's Tony Stone sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sebastian Malicki narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 6th minute, Raimundo Bento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Ciarán Jones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stephen Payne hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. When Anatoli Chukov came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Liverpool fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anatoli Chukov couldn't finish the play. Erasmo Serapio hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute, Ciarán Jones reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sebastian Malicki. The goal made the score 2-0. Marcus King took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erasmo Serapio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erasmo Serapio struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Marcus King didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liverpool. Liverpool were furious when Stephen Payne was red carded, 36 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Geoff McParland, 38 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geoff McParland got free with Sebastian Malicki in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciarán Jones in the 41st minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Sebastian Malicki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Erasmo Serapio to make the kick off. After 54 minutes, Miles Mabbutt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Yapton and the Liverpool players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 54 played minutes Yapton got a freekick which was hit by Miles Mabbutt. After 56 minutes of play, Yapton's Ciarán Jones made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sebastian Malicki was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony Stone in the 59th minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Sebastian Malicki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Iustin Călinescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus King having to interfere. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Liverpool's goalkeeper Sebastian Malicki, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 82 minutes into the match, Liverpool's goal looked a bit too open when Ciarán Jones came free, but Sebastian Malicki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ciarán Jones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute, Geoff McParland made a precise shot to the right of Sebastian Malicki. Liverpool's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. If Ciarán Jones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 97 minutes into the match, Liverpool's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Stone came free, but Sebastian Malicki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erasmo Serapio's late challenge caught a Yapton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erasmo Serapio helped the player get up and apologised. Yapton made a substitution. Rich Lambert replaced Miles Mabbutt. Erasmo Serapio hit a great freekick 99 minutes into the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Liverpool players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Yapton.
