The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as Lisburn Distillery F.C.'s Eddie Wittingham slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Greg Reddington. That made the score 1-0 after 12 minutes of play. Russell Bennett could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Greg Reddington made a huge save. Thanks to some nice moves Russell Bennett could shoot a difficult shot in the 21st minute, which Greg Reddington however easily saved by the left post. In the 22nd minute, Eddie Wittingham reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Greg Reddington. The goal made the score 2-0. After some careless play in the Taverham AF defense, Russell Bennett kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Greg Reddington. The Taverham AF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Greg Reddington should have stopped the shot. Lisburn Distillery F.C.'s Derek Findley got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Taverham AF's Greg Reddington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eddie Wittingham in the 30th minute of play. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Austin Trueman made a kick off. If Russell Bennett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Taverham AF's Greg Reddington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eddie Wittingham in the 53rd minute of play. Lisburn Distillery F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jo Tabb in the 55th minute. Lisburn Distillery F.C.'s Jo Tabb was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Greg Reddington in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Greg Reddington came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Lisburn Distillery F.C.'s Russell Bennett. But to his dismay, Russell Bennett quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Greg Reddington took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Russell Bennett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Lisburn Distillery F.C.'s Russell Bennett in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Greg Reddington stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Derek Findley's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddie Wittingham in the 70th minute of play forced Taverham AF's goalkeeper Greg Reddington to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Greg Reddington took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Derek Findley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the match, Taverham AF's goal looked a bit too open when Russell Bennett came free, but Greg Reddington reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 8-0 became the score in the 90th minute when Eddie Wittingham elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Russell Bennett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Lisburn Distillery F.C. had played much better football throughout.
