The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Beineon McCready during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ballyhook FC's Beineon McCready got a free kick in the 28th minute. Finbar McBrand struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Eoghan Kelly didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ballyhook FC. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abbot Branson in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bernard Cooney saved Ballyhook FC from getting behind. In the 42nd minute, Beineon McCready hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abbot Branson in the 47th minute of play forced Ballyhook FC's goalkeeper Bernard Cooney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Finbar McBrand to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Crumpane's goalkeeper Eoghan Kelly had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Finbar McBrand. 59 minutes into the match, Abbot Branson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bernard Cooney. Ballyhook FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abbot Branson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Aaden Walker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Bernard Cooney tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abbot Branson in the 67th minute of play forced Ballyhook FC's goalkeeper Bernard Cooney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ballyhook FC's Bernard Cooney played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Royan Savic in the 70th minute of play. Ballyhook FC's Finbar McBrand got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernard Cooney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abbot Branson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Samuel Silke hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. When Finbar McBrand came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Ballyhook FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Finbar McBrand couldn't finish the play. Crumpane's Eoghan Kelly proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Crumpane from getting a goal against them. Eoghan Kelly showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Finbar McBrand in the 96th minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Crumpane had played much better football throughout.
