Spectators: 6776 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1776, VIP seats: 0) Artur McLiam started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. With a little luck, Rathwire's Edwin Mullan got control of the ball when Don McNamee tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pearse Hutton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lee Martyn, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Don McNamee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Pearse Hutton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lee Martyn in the 15th minute of play. Heremon McLiam's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pearse Hutton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Edwin Mullan was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Don McNamee capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Don McNamee really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After 23 minutes, Brigid Branson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballyboy and the Rathwire players grew even worse after the yellow card. Brigid Branson hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Ballyboy's Pearse Hutton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lee Martyn in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th match minute, Ballyboy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dónal Caffrey to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 28 minutes, Heremon McLiam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rathwire's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heremon McLiam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lee Martyn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pearse Hutton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heremon McLiam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46thth minute of the game Heremon McLiam who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ballyboy's Pearse Hutton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lee Martyn made a kick off. After some careless play in the Ballyboy defense, Heremon McLiam kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pearse Hutton. The Ballyboy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pearse Hutton should have stopped the shot. Heremon McLiam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Pearse Hutton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Heremon McLiam notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Ballyboy's Pearse Hutton. Pearse Hutton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the Rathwire defense, Artur McLiam kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edwin Mullan. The Rathwire fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edwin Mullan should have stopped the shot. Ballyboy's Brigid Branson got his second yellow card of the match in the 75th minute. The referee ordered Brigid Branson off the ground. After 76 played minutes Ballyboy got a freekick which was hit by Brigid Branson. 77 minutes into the match, Rathwire's Lee Martyn sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pearse Hutton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Ballyboy booed when Rathwire was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heremon McLiam didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pearse Hutton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heremon McLiam in the 82nd minute. Heremon McLiam recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Heremon McLiam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pearse Hutton having to interfere. Heremon McLiam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lee Martyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Pearse Hutton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Ballyboy fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Rathwire were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
