In the 7th minute Roy Kelly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Braonain Hughes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Monneill AFC's Boyle McGlenn got a free kick in the 9th minute. Raymond McAlphie hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. If Boyle McGlenn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Monneill AFC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Peter Hamilton hit a great ball. Conleth McNamara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Colm McGlynn having to interfere. In the 41st minute Breaghdha Mullan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Colm McGlynn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Breaghdha Mullan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Colm McGlynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Breaghdha Mullan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Boyle McGlenn made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Taveon Cronin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Monneill AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ardranny the free kick. The supporters of Ardranny booed when Monneill AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Taveon Cronin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Colm McGlynn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadhg Molloy in the 54th minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Ardranny's Breaghdha Mullan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Colm McGlynn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Joseph Frankson's late challenge caught a Ardranny's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel McOliver charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel McOliver the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 80th minute, Roy Kelly fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 82nd minute, Taveon Cronin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Monneill AFC's zone, Conleth McNamara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Colm McGlynn came out of the goal and Conleth McNamara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 87 minutes, Boyle McGlenn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monneill AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boyle McGlenn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Colm McGlynn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breaghdha Mullan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Breaghdha Mullan came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Ardranny fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Breaghdha Mullan couldn't finish the play. If Roy Kelly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
