Spectators: 6781 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1781, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rowley John took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 4th match minute, Bunnagippaun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryley McAlphie to maneuver through the defense. Bairthmead Lester received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Boru O'Brien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 21st minute, Dinny McCready made a precise shot to the right of Boru O'Brien. Bunnagippaun's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After some careless play in the Bunnagippaun defense, Glenn Ferguson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Boru O'Brien. The Bunnagippaun fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Boru O'Brien should have stopped the shot. Dinny McCready recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Killenaule booed when Bunnagippaun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donn Doherty didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dinny McCready made a kick off. Boru O'Brien made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dinny McCready in the 58th minute. If Donn Doherty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Dinny McCready managed to get in a good position for a shot. Killenaule's supporters rose to their feet, but Dinny McCready was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boru O'Brien breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Donegal Caffrey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 70 minutes into the match, Dinny McCready dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Boru O'Brien, 0-4. Finian Walker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donn Doherty, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dinny McCready's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 82ndth minute, Boru O'Brien skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 90th minute, Donn Doherty left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bunnagippaun fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Killenaule played a much better game than Bunnagippaun and deserved their victory. The Bunnagippaun players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
