Courthoyle's Quinton Lavine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Branigan Costello in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of Cahererillan booed when Courthoyle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birr McDonald didn't get a good kick on the ball. Quinton Lavine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Corey McLian, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Quinton Lavine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corey McLian in the 20th minute of play. After some careless play in the Courthoyle defense, Donall Gillmour kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Quinton Lavine. The Courthoyle fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Quinton Lavine should have stopped the shot. When Basil Moran came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Courthoyle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basil Moran couldn't finish the play. A hard shot 37 in the game by Basil Moran from a close distance when the talented Dónal Gough managed to make a qualified save. Cahererillan's players were relieved. Courthoyle's Quinton Lavine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Branigan Costello in the 38th minute of play. Courthoyle were furious when Paudraig Kelly was red carded, 39 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 40th minute, Paudraig Kelly hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute Donall Gillmour shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quinton Lavine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Corey McLian to strike the kick off in the second half. Quinton Lavine made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Cianán Lavine sent off a good shot on target. After 57 minutes of play, Cahererillan's Donall Gillmour made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Quinton Lavine was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 60th minute, Shannon Brennan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes into the game, Basil Moran was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Courthoyle's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cahererillan the free kick. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 65th minute, when Cahererillan's Donall Gillmour after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Quinton Lavine in Courthoyle's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. The crowd rose to their feet as Corey McLian kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Quinton Lavine. That made the score 1-3 in the 67 minute of play. Quinton Lavine didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 76th minute, which inside left pole to 1-5. In the 81st minute of the match, Corey McLian tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Quinton Lavine saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Corey McLian took a quick shot and it went in 1-7 without a chance for Quinton Lavine to make any attempt to save it. Quinton Lavine made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donall Gillmour in the 92nd minute. Cahererillan's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
