Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Darragh Costello took the kick off in the first half of the match. 3 minutes into the match, Clon's Reamann McNamara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aubrey John narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Darragh Costello came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Cloonbannin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Darragh Costello couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berkeley Cronin in the 10th minute of play forced Cloonbannin's goalkeeper Aubrey John to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cloonbannin's Aubrey John played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berkeley Cronin in the 11th minute of play. Berkeley Cronin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Aubrey John tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. David McBjarton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Boroimhe Hunt made a huge save. In the 18th minute of the game, Seoirse Prunty landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Tyrone Lester fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clon's protests and gave Tyrone Lester a yellow card for diving instead. Tyrone Lester hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Geary Hughes kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 22nd minute, Reamann McNamara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 23 minutes into the game, Aron Gillmour was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cloonbannin's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clon the free kick. Aron Gillmour kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Berkeley Cronin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 28th minute, Clon's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after David McBjarton fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The Cloonbannin fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Cloonbannin's David McBjarton looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 32 played minutes Cloonbannin got a freekick which was hit by Darragh Costello. Aubrey John came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Clon's Reamann McNamara. But to his dismay, Reamann McNamara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Berkeley Cronin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Reamann McNamara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clon's supporters rose to their feet, but Reamann McNamara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aubrey John breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aubrey John prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 62nd match minute, Cloonbannin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darragh Costello to maneuver through the defense. Cloonbannin were furious when Turlough Ramsey was red carded, 64 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cloonbannin fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 63rd minute. Penalty! Royan Crowe shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. When Darragh Costello fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cloonbannin's protests and gave Darragh Costello a yellow card for diving instead. 80 minutes into the match, Clon's goal looked a bit too open when Beglan Ferguson came free, but Boroimhe Hunt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reamann McNamara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cloonbannin fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 84th minute. Penalty! With a little luck, Cloonbannin's Aubrey John got control of the ball when Berkeley Cronin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cloonbannin's Aubrey John proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Cloonbannin from getting a goal against them. Beglan Ferguson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Berkeley Cronin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 100th minute of the match, but Aubrey John made a huge save. The Clon supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Clon would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
