An unexpectedly hard shot by Breanainn Rutherford in the 14th minute of play forced Clontarf's goalkeeper Reginald Ryan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Breanainn Rutherford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 24 minutes, Banan Caffrey made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Clonebud Utd's Rordan Lester tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Bow Deans kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the game, Gordan McPhil was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clontarf's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clonebud Utd the free kick. In the 34th minute Quinton Duggan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reginald Ryan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reginald Ryan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Harold Dempsey in the 48th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Breanainn Rutherford was the one to do the kick off. Quinton Duggan charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Quinton Duggan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Clonebud Utd getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Quinton Duggan hit a great ball. Reginald Ryan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bradain Rutherford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Terry Rogers was shown his second yellow card after 86 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Terry Rogers kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Rordan Lester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ravan Ramsey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 90 played minutes, Clontarf's Bow Deans shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rordan Lester came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Clontarf reached it. With his leg Rordan Lester managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Clontarf's Banan Caffrey fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Clontarf's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
