The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teris McLian during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Killbarly FC booed when Boley Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teris McLian didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boley Utd's Beag McMichel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Boley Utd from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beiti Frankson in the 25th minute of play forced Killbarly FC's goalkeeper Brenda O'Keefe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Blathmac Caffey's late challenge caught a Killbarly FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blathmac Caffey helped the player get up and apologised. In the 42nd minute, Blathmac Caffey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boley Utd's Beiti Frankson got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Nollaig Prunty's late challenge caught a Boley Utd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Beag McMichel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bradner Gallagher in the 60th minute of play. Bradner Gallagher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Beag McMichel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herich O'Keefe, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. If Beiti Frankson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Darragh McPaul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Beiti Frankson might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brenda O'Keefe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Beiti Frankson ran back to his position shaking his head. 79 minutes into the match, Killbarly FC's goal looked a bit too open when Beiti Frankson came free, but Brenda O'Keefe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute Bradner Gallagher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beag McMichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brenda O'Keefe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Beiti Frankson's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. If Bradner Gallagher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute, Beiti Frankson fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A collision led to Killbarly FC getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Braonain Taylor hit a great ball.
