The supporters of Sligo booed when Kilteely was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nolen MaCollin didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Breenan McVictor in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kieran Branson saved Kilteely from getting behind. 7 minutes into the match, Kilteely's goal looked a bit too open when Rowley McWill came free, but Kieran Branson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Sligo booed when Kilteely was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timothy Ramsey didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rowley McWill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rowley McWill in the 12th minute of play forced Kilteely's goalkeeper Kieran Branson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Gearroid Gillmour managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kilteely's supporters rose to their feet, but Gearroid Gillmour was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dawayne McTommy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rowley McWill might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kieran Branson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rowley McWill ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Brazil Costello during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th minute there was a penalty for Sligo. Bram Caffrey stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Kieran Branson. 0-1. In the 28th minute, Timothy Ramsey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rowley McWill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kieran Branson having to interfere. Kieran Branson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rowley McWill in the 35th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Sligo's goal looked a bit too open when Flann Colwell came free, but Dawayne McTommy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Breenan McVictor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Kieran Branson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Breenan McVictor ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kieran Branson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After the first half Sligo were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Breenan McVictor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bram Caffrey's late challenge caught a Kilteely's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bram Caffrey helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Kilteely booed when Sligo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bram Caffrey didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Kilteely's zone, Breenan McVictor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kieran Branson came out of the goal and Breenan McVictor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 66 played minutes Kilteely got a freekick which was hit by Seán McPhilip. Breenan McVictor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kieran Branson having to interfere. Dillon Scully hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Kilteely's Barin Harkin tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Rowley McWill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Kieran Branson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dawayne McTommy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flann Colwell in the 84th minute of play. Kieran Branson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breenan McVictor in the 85th minute of the match. In the 89th minute, Breenan McVictor got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kieran Branson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Breenan McVictor's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sligo's zone, Gearroid Gillmour stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dawayne McTommy came out of the goal and Gearroid Gillmour tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 96 minutes of play, Sligo's Rowley McWill made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kieran Branson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sligo's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
