Antaine McIan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phelan Johnson, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Riversdale's Antaine McIan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liam Barrett in the 7th minute of play. If Boylan Hunt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caroll Rutherford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Beehan McCready, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. A hard shot by Breaghdha Tracy from long distance, 24 minutes into the match, got Caroll Rutherford's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Beehan McCready sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 28 minutes into the match, Myrtlegrove's goalkeeper Caroll Rutherford had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Boylan Hunt. 29 minutes into the match, Myrtlegrove's goal looked a bit too open when Beehan McCready came free, but Caroll Rutherford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 30 played minutes Myrtlegrove got a freekick which was hit by Branigan McPhilip. After 31 minutes of play, Riversdale's Beehan McCready made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Caroll Rutherford was left in no man's land by his defense there! Boylan Hunt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caroll Rutherford having to interfere. Renny Murphy charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Renny Murphy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Boylan Hunt struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Caroll Rutherford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Riversdale. Boylan Hunt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caroll Rutherford having to interfere. Beehan McCready received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Caroll Rutherford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Liam Barrett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antaine McIan having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Phelan Johnson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Myrtlegrove's zone, Phelan McStephen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Caroll Rutherford came out of the goal and Phelan McStephen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Branigan McPhilip hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. If Liam Barrett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute, Boylan Hunt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Beehan McCready sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Harry Barrett hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Riversdale's Antaine McIan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Riversdale from getting a goal against them. 79 minutes into the match, Beehan McCready notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Myrtlegrove's Caroll Rutherford. Caroll Rutherford was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Myrtlegrove's goalkeeper Caroll Rutherford, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Beehan McCready left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Riversdale fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. If Phelan McStephen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Riversdale walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
